Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals at Plympton are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Plympton, you must be at least 21 years old, though age limits may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. Valid payment information and a security deposit must also be provided. Additional criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement must be met.
Booking and Payments
- You can book your vehicle through our website, by phone, or directly at our Plympton location. A deposit may be needed to confirm your reservation. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally payable upon collecting your vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where relevant. We accept all major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, you are required to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document this assessment. Please return the vehicle in the same condition it was received, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damages will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at pick-up; otherwise, refueling charges will apply. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, please contact us as soon as possible, as late returns may incur additional fees. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during the rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rental agreements with Plympton come with basic third-party insurance included. The specifics of coverage and any excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options are available to limit your financial exposure. It is important to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you have opted for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses for Rented Vehicles
- Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is strictly prohibited. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other risky pursuits is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials is forbidden. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized individuals to drive is not permitted. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, and you must adhere to passenger and weight limits. Driving beyond the agreed geographical boundaries without prior consent is not acceptable.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Plympton Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the total amount paid for your rental within the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to claims for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
Updates to Terms
Plympton reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
